Tell us a little bit about your professional background and experience

I began my career in an old (very cold) banking chambers working for 3 partners at Cresswell Crabtree & Sons Chartered Accountants in Hebden Bridge. I had an affinity for numbers and so I became an Accounting Technician and right from the off the measure of my success was about how the customer felt I had handled their account. My work needed to be accurate and I knew I had built up a good relationship when I was asked to work on the accounts again in the following year. I was introduced to good old-fashioned customer service values by a senior partner who took a leap of faith in me and took me to client’s premises and involved me in onsite audits and meetings with established and varied customers. Since those early days I have always worked in a customer facing environment be that working with customers or working with colleagues who have often become friends. It’s actually amazing that I have been a champion of customer delight for 26 years!

What attracted you to the Office Manager role at innergy?

innergy is an organisation that is enjoying rapid & successful growth and so when I saw the role for Office Manager advertised I knew I wanted to be involved with that growth. I have worked for well-known brands and small businesses alike but none show that raw hunger for achieving 100% customer delight that I saw when I first met Gez the Managing Director at innergy. I felt immediately at home when I arrived at HQ and knew that I would be amongst people who shared my values for delivering a fantastic customer journey. I love to get things organised too, and so with so many branch sites under my wing I can establish a way of working that ensures that every customer in every part of the innergy network experiences 5 star customer delight! Before I came on board I was lucky enough to be presented with more than one job offer and it wasn’t a tough decision to choose the role I was offered here at innergy, I knew I would be challenged and fulfilled and so far I haven’t been wrong.

What have you learnt about innergy’s products and services so far?

Here at Leeds HQ we stock our full range of Propane and Butane gas bottles as well as welding gas for business use. We stock welding gas for the domestic hobbyist. We have our own brand of oils and lubricants and have full range of solid fuels such as coals and logs which we supply to stockists as well as end users. We can even help you get your balloons inflated with helium products available to suit a range of domestic and business needs. Balloons can be ordered on request and will be inflated and ready for your event. As well as gas or fuel products innergy have a range of welding equipment and accessories on display and in stock by popular brand Sievert, SWP and Bullfinch. We change our display regularly but always have indoor portable heaters & outdoor heaters, patio heaters and BBQ’s in stock and on display. We have a range of winter essentials available, from covered ice scrapers to sledges!

What are your plans as Office Manager at innergy and what can our lovely customers expect to see?

I am primarily based at our Leeds HQ and have begun to review and refine some of the ways in which we do things to make sure we eliminate anything which might negatively impact on our customers. I think everyone has a responsibility to challenge the process and so I am actively encouraging and inviting my team of three to bring ideas to the table to see what we can incorporate into the organisation or day to day running of the office. I am working closely with our Marketing Manager to establish the innergy brand throughout the business. From staff uniforms to the look and feel of our showrooms our brand is something we are very proud of. You will see lots more product lines being introduced and information on our offers when you visit our branches. Describe a typical day at innergy… I really don’t know if any day is typical! Being the Leader of our Administration team at innergy Group means more than simply answering the telephone and filing. I work closely with my team to ensure we provide cover for our HQ as well as our 3 branch sites- Castleford, Dewsbury and Harrogate. I manage the team of administration staff and look for ways to make improvements taking on board colleague & customer feedback. We are responsible for stock control as well as all business administration from processing internet orders, meeting and greeting visitors to servicing our delivery customers and keeping our showrooms looking fabulous, our days are varied and busy.
